Japanese/Korean Fine Art

Cloud Dragon Paper – 110gsm & pure mulberry fibre

The ultimate enviro. inkjet product in smooth (Kozo) and textured (Cloud Dragon)

Made in Japan, Korea and China for over 1000 years (from Japanese census records)  there is no cotton or wood based product known that can outlast it.

Rather than wood or cotton, these products are made from the inner bark of the Mulberry tree (called “dak” in Korea ), which is common in Asia.

Giclee Media Supplies imports two types of this material both in natural white and both are coated to allow adhesion of inks from dye and pigment based printers.

In all other respects the material is authentic and the coating is made such that it is not evident to the eye preserving the original characteristics.

Giclee media imports the fibrous “cloud dragon” or Gureum (in Korean), Unryu (In Japan)  and the smoother Maru (Korean) or Kozo in Japan). Both are 110gsm and completely acid free.

These types of paper have slightly muted colors and suit the reproduction of traditional Japanese art or student and educational work.

As the images show at left or top, the cloud dragon variation with its clearly evident long strands of fibre on the uncoated side, is often used with forms of rear illumination. As this type of presentation is rare, GMS offers wholesale printing services for 17 and 24 inch widths and selectable profile rendering intents.
